Serbia National Day 2021 | Statehood Day 2021 in Serbia | First Serbian Uprising | First revolution in the Balkan region | First Constitution of the Principality of Serbia | Welcome everyone. Today, (15 February), Serbia celebrates it's National Day, commemorating the First Serbian Uprising, which began exactly 216 years ago. Known as the first revolution in the Balkan region, it paved the way, for the drafting of the First Constitution of the Principality of Serbia, which was formally adopted on this day in 1835. National Day (Serbian: Дан државности / Dan državnosti), is a holiday celebrated every February 15 in Serbia to commemorate the outbreak of the First Serbian Uprising in 1804, which evolved into the Serbian Revolution against Ottoman rule. The revolution ultimately resulted in the recognition of Serbia's National by the Ottoman Empire, (formally in 1817, de jure in 1830). Also known as Statehood Day, Serbia’s National Day traditionally begins with a memorial service, followed by a symbolic wreath laying in remembrance of the 1804 Serbian revolution.
