Tiutiunnyk 1983 Live at Carnegie Hall * Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus • Тютюнник (Китастий/Багряний)

This song was penned by composer Hryhory Kytasty (1907-1984) to the words of literary giant Ivan Bahriany (1906-1963) when they met in 1944 in the town of Turka during the war. That meeting produced several, now classic, patriotic songs, one of which was this Song of Yuri Tiutiunnyk. The others were Vstavaj Narode! (Arise ye people!), and March "Ukraine" . Hryhory Kytasty, named Hero of Ukraine posthumously by Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko in 2008, was the director of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus until his untimely death in 1984. This is a live recording from Carnegie Hall on May 20, 1983. Soloists George Oryshkewych (tenor) and Roman Kassaraba (bass) Композиція Григорія Китастого (1907-1984) на слова Івана Багряного.
