Fort Vancouver Centennial Half Dollar 1925 |

EN: A short review of the Fort Vancouver Centennial Half Dollar — a commemorative half dollar issued in 1925 for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Fort Vancouver by the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1825. The obverse features Dr. John McLoughlin, who led Fort Vancouver and played an important role in the history of the Pacific Northwest. The reverse depicts an armed frontiersman with the fort and Mount Hood rising in the background. Laura Gardin Fraser’s expressive design combines the history of trade, westward expansion, and the American frontier, while the coin’s low surviving mintage has made Fort Vancouver one of the more distinctive and sought-after issues of the classic U.S. commemorative half dollar series Приглашаем вас в Telegram-канал «Заметки нумизмата and Co» - сообщество людей, увлечённых монетами и их историей!
