Wisconsin Territorial Centennial Half Dollar 1936 |

EN: A short review of the Wisconsin Territorial Centennial Half Dollar — a commemorative half dollar issued in 1936 for the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Wisconsin Territory in 1836. The obverse features a badger, the well-known symbol of Wisconsin, together with elements reflecting the region’s early history and industrial development. The reverse presents the territorial seal of Wisconsin, including an arm holding a pick and the motto “FORWARD,” later adopted as the official state motto. The design by David Parsons and Benjamin Hawkins connects the coin with the settlement of the American Midwest, mining traditions, and the development of the future state. Its relatively low mintage and distinctive imagery have made the Wisconsin Half Dollar an appealing and recognizable issue in the classic U.S. commemorative half dollar series Приглашаем вас в Telegram-канал «Заметки нумизмата and Co» - сообщество людей, увлечённых монетами и их историей!
