Roads (Go Ever Ever On) - The Hobbit & Return of the King Versions - Shire Folk Cover

Much like the books, both Rankin Bass movies featured a version of Bilbo's "walking songs." The songs both used the same melody (as did "It's So Easy Not To Try") so I decided it would be nice to put them together, connecting Bilbo's journey with Frodo's. As always, give the original tracks a listen -- there's no beating Glenn Yarbrough! Song created by first recording myself on guitar/vocals using the Rankin/Bass melody as the basis. This recording was then run through SunoAI to create a "full band" sound. Tracks were stemmed and re-edited in an audio editor with additional instruments and vocals added. Credit to Jules Bass and Maury Laws for their original melody/lyrics. Video created using clips from both animated films. Thanks for listening! Lyrics: Roads go ever, ever on Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea. Roads go ever, ever on Under cloud and under star, Yet feet that wandering have gone Will turn at last to home afar. Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June! Over grass and over stone, Under the mountains in the moon! Roads go ever, evеr on Over rock and under tree, By caves whеre never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea... Roads go ever, ever on To the lands beyond the sea, On a white ship will I sail, Watching shadows part for me. Leaving Havens grey with rain, Now that years have slipped away. Leaving friends with gentle pain As they start another day. Roads I traveled I must leave, For I've turned the final bend! Weep not empty tears, but grieve, As the road comes to an end! It's so easy not to try; Let the world go drifting by... If you never say hеllo, You won't have to say goodbye. Roads go ever, ever on...
