The Twilight Samurai \ C

The second half of the 19th century. The Edo period is drawing to a close, marking the end of the Tokugawa shogunate’s rule. Samurai clans are losing their power. Soon, the provincial domains will unify, and the warrior class will become obsolete. The military ranks are demoralized, and lawlessness grips the streets. Samurai now languish in roles as mere accountants. The somber Seibei, nicknamed "Twilight" (Sanada), is a low-ranking samurai who has just buried his wife and resigned himself to a life of quiet desperation; his only goal is to successfully raise his two young daughters. Soon, two challenges fall upon him at once: his love for Tomoe (Miyazawa), the young sister of a close friend, and a direct order to kill a rebel samurai in a duel—a man who refuses to commit ritual suicide.
