Chernobyl's 'New Safe Confinement'

Engineers are pressing ahead with efforts to permanently shield the stricken reactor at Chernobyl, 28 years after the world's worst nuclear disaster took place at the site, on April 26, 1986. In 2012 Ukraine began construction of a permanent shelter to replace the temporary concrete-and-steel edifice that was hastily erected after the disaster and which has since developed cracks.VIDEOGRPAHIC
